An unknown animal disease has claimed over 100 pigs at Bhaiphung village under Chilivai Bhaiphung sub-division in Manipur’s Senapati district.

He lamented that his younger brother lost 17 pigs and urged the Veterinary minister to look into the issue being faced by the village at the earliest and provide remedial measures.

Sources told the IFP that no veterinary department had visited the village. The infected pigs showed bodily weaknesses, loss of appetite and died a quick death, adding that carcasses were buried.

It may be mentioned that several pigs had recently died of unknown livestock disease in Manipur’s Ukhrul and Kamjong district.
