1304 stranded in Kangpokpi escorted to Churachandpur

The stranded people, escorted by the security personnel in 12 buses, two trucks and two pickup trucks, reached Churachandpur district on Thursday.

As many as 1,304 stranded people were transported from Kangpokpi Relief Camps to Churachandpur district via Imphal around 12 noon Thursday.

They were escorted by a combined security forces of the CRPF and Assam Rifles, as per sources.

The stranded people were escorted by the security personnel in 12 buses, two trucks and two pickup trucks. They reached Churachandpur district around 3 pm, it added.

 

The returnees are welcome by joint women union family members and members of CSOs along with the Churachandpur District administration who also provided tea and snacks.

With the Churachandpur District Medical Officer's ambulances and different Philanthropic union ambulances, the sick are taken to the district hospital. Most of the  returnees, who do not have a place to go, will be stationed at the 42 relief camp set up by ITLF.
