Wari Leeba: Story telling festival to save dying culture

The workshop cum festival on story telling was organised with the goal of preserving the lost and dying culture of the traditional ‘Wari Leeba’ art form.

The All Manipur Waree Leeba Association and Research Centre (AMWLARC) on Friday launched a week-long storytelling workshop-cum-festival at Shri Shri Gopinath Mandir, Leihao Makhong Mandap at Harikhagok Makhong in Imphal East.

A release by AMWLARC secretary W Chinglen Singh stated that the week-long storytelling workshop-cum-festival was organised by AMWLARC along with Harikhagok Makhong Development Committee, Imphal East under the aegis of the Culture Ministry, Government of India.

It added that the workshop cum festival was organised with the goal of preserving the lost and dying culture of the traditional ‘Wari Leeba’ art form.

The programme was attended by prominent story tellers and enthusiasts of ‘Wari Leeba’ art form of the state, it mentioned.
