India witnesses jump in musical instruments exports

The period April-September 2022 saw rise in India's musical instrument exports to the tune of Rs 172 crore.

India witnessed a huge spike in exports of musical instruments in April-September 2022, Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal said Thursday.

"India’s exports of musical instruments rose to more than 3.5 times in April-September 2022, as compared to the same period in 2013," Piyush Goyal said.

The period April-September 2022 saw rise in musical instrument exports to the tune of Rs 172 crore as against Rs 49 crore in the same period in financial year 2013-14, as per provisional data, the Union minister mentioned.

Reacting to it, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said in a tweet:

"This is encouraging. With Indian music gaining popularity worldwide, there is a great opportunity to further grow in this sector."
