The Forest Division Tamenglong range officer Kh Hitler Singh on Monday said that camera traps installed at forest areas of Kuilong Part II have revealed several species of important wildlife.

The area is fit for starting a real wildlife conservation programme in full swing; otherwise, the important wildlife can become extinct very soon because of traditional hunting practices, illegal logging, jhum cultivation etc.

“Unluckily, we are not able to get any photos of Royal Bengal tiger (Panthera tigris) in spite of collecting several of its pugmarks during the month of July 2021,” he added.

It may be mentioned that on July 6, villagers of Kuilong Part II found three cows killed in mysterious condition that sparked off panic among the Kuilong villagers and surrounding villages.
