As a part of the Save Amur Falcon programme, the Rainforest Club Tamenglong along with the Tamenglong Forest Division conducted awareness programmes at Eklavya Model Residential School, Tamenglong and Tamenglong College.
During the session, Nehemiah Panmei, Advisor to Rainforest Club Tamenglong and Honorary Wildlife Warden, Tamenglong spoke on the importance of saving the migratory raptors, Amur Falcon, commonly called "Akhuaipuina" in Rongmei.
The youngsters, students in particular, are the leader of the future and has the responsibility to take part in the field of conservation, he said. The students took pledge to conserve Amur falcon and spread awareness.
The Rainforest Club Tamenglong under the aegis of Tamenglong Forest Division and Wildlife Trust of India will continue to take up different activities such as educational camping, interactive sessions with the villagers, and sending volunteers to the roosting sites and moreover. Amur Falcon Festival will also be held in the second week of November, it said.
