Tripura withdraws restrictions for visitors, shuts down COVID-19 centres at entry points

Visitors to Tripura can now enter the state without any screening or testing for COVID-19 as the state government has withdrawn COVID-19 restrictions for passengers at the airport and closed down COVID testing centres at all entry points to the state, sources said.

"As the COVID-19 pandemic has been largely contained, COVID testing centres at all entry points to the state have been shut down," a state health official said.

Tripura has been reporting the lowest number of COVID-19 active cases among all states in Northeast India for the past few weeks. Today, the state has only one COVID-19 active case.

"Passengers can now freely move through the airport without showing COVID negative certificate as the situation has now improved," an official of the Airports Authority of India said.

As of Wednesday, COVID-19 confirmed cases reached 1,00,869 and the death toll remained 916, while 99,950 total COVID-19 patients have recovered so far, according to the Health Ministry data.
