Twitter users in India will now have to pay to avail Twitter Blue features, as the social media firm has extended its Twitter Blue subscription service that guarantees a blue tick in India.
The Elon Musk owned company rolled out Twitter Blue service in India on February 8 for a monthly fee of Rs 650 on the web and Rs 900 on mobile, for both Android and iOS devices.
The micro-blogging site also offers a discounted annual subscription plan for web users at Rs 6,800.
Twitter Blue subscribers will be able to cancel, upgrade or auto renew their subscriptions, the compnay said, adding that the features includes fewer ads and longer posts. It also promises early access to upcoming features.
Currently, only card payments are accepted for the Twitter Blue subcriptions. Users can use Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Discover cards to buy the subscriptions.
Apart from India, Twitter Blue is now launched in Brazil and Indonesia as well. Initially, the new Twitter Blue service was made available in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand.
