XI Star Sporting Union beat HYC Chandel by 3-1 goals to book a berth in the semi final of the 25th Th Birachandra-Maipakpi Memorial Winner's Cup for Men 2021-22 played at the latter's home ground at Mini Sports Complex, Chandel.
In the earlier match between the two teams played at XI Star SU home ground at Artificial Turf on December 15 last, XI Star beat HYC Chandel by 3-1 goals as well, which paved their way to the semi final.
Sensing the danger and advantages enjoyed by HYC team at their home turf, XI Star Sporting Union made fast moves to score as much as possible and rightly so, they got the opening goal in the 15 minute of play when Y Kison strucks for the lead.
Giving little breathing space for the HYC team, XI Star strikes yet again, with N Sanaton making a powerful volley to the left of the keeper for the second goal in 19 minute. Though HYC covers lots of ground, feeble shots cost them the chances.
XI Star Sporting Union took further lead when Y Kison came up with his second goal in the injury time of 45 plus 3 minute to post 3-0 goals lead in the first half.
Burdened by a 3 goals deficit, HYC Chandel made their late moves and got rewarded from a penalty in the 47 minute. TS Warkham made no mistake in converting it to goal to trial by 1-3 goals, which turned out to be their last as well.
Three HYC players TS Warkham Anal, Mika Sinrung, JS Alower Anal and XI Star players Y Kison, Langsingam, L Joshidas got booked with a yellow card in the match.
In Tuesday's match, GSYC Lonpi will face ZLYC Churchandpur at MAYWO Playground, Lonpi at 1.30 pm.
