Manipur hammered Meghalaya by an innings and 73 runs in the BCCI Vijay Merchant Trophy 2023-24 played at Ravenshaw University Ground, Cuttack.
Batting first, Meghalaya batsmen had a tough time tackling the pace attack of Manipur bowlers especially Kaiku who claimed 5 wickets; they were restricted to 79 runs all out from 27.2 overs. G Narieng managed to top score with 39 runs in the first innings.
In reply, Manipur made a crackling start with Binson hitting 58 runs while Rain made 94 runs to pile up 233 runs for 10 wickets from 60.5 overs. Sougaijam got 21 runs and Donba scored 20 runs to the team total.
Meghalaya bowler A Marak bagged 5 wickets for 43 runs from 14 overs while M Gupta took 2 wickets from 16 overs.
In their second innings, Meghalaya could muster up a paltry 81 runs for 10 wickets from 34.5 overs and had to face an innings and 73 runs defeat today.
Manipur bowler Danish picked up 5 wickets for 21 runs from 8 overs while Rain took 2 wickets and Naesh, Kaiku, Sougaijam claimed 1 wicket each.
