Manipur defeated Mizoram by an innings and 114 runs in the semi final of the Vijay Merchant Trophy 2023-24 played at JSCA Oval Ground, Cuttack.
Sent in to bat first, Mizoram made 146 runs with Zira coming in late to strike 67 runs to the team total for 10 wickets from 73.3 overs. Rain Urikhinbam proved deadly, claiming 4 wickets from 12.3 overs while Danish and Naesh bagged 2 wickets each.
In reply, Manipur batsmen were in full swings as they made 380 runs for 10 wickets from 121.3 overs. Danish crossed the century making 107 runs while Donba crack 55 runs, Rain got 58 runs and T Nganba fetched 54 runs. Mizoram bowler Ramsanga and Nunga picked up 3 wickets each.
Following their second innings, Mizoram managed 120 runs for 10 wickets from 51.4 overs with Mapula top scoring with 48 runs. Danish was the most effective Manipur bowler picking up 4 wickets from 17 overs while Donba got 2 wickets. By virtue of the win, Manipur have qualified for the final round of the Trophy.
