UVSA Chajing id Champion of 3rd Manaoton & Chandrashakhi Veteran Football

United Veteran Sports Association, Chajing claimed the champion title beating Sunday FC by 2-1 goals in the final match of the 3rd Master Dr Manaoton Singh & M Chandrashakhi Memorial Football Championship 2023 played at Artificial Turf, Lamlong Thongkhong.

UVSA Chajing, who are put on the high pedestal among the veteran teams, ensured to dominate the proceedings as early as possible to have the upper hand. And they got the opportunity in the 25th minute with W Robin ruffling the net for the lead.

Seizing the moment and not losing their focus, UVSA Chajing once again jumped to action and this time it was S. Ruhikumar who scored the second goal in the 27th minute to maintain their grip in the match.

But not to be outshone by its opponent, Sunday FC, who so far had not been able to find the correct angle, managed to outwit the Chajing defence in the 29th minute with Sh. Jiten pushing home the opening goal to rally 1-2 goals in the first half. Chajing players Ng. Angouton and W. Robin got yellow cards in the match.

But as the second half failed to produce any more goals, UVSA Chajing claimed the Champion trophy along with a cash prize of Rs 50,000 while Sunday FC had to settle with Runners Up trophy and Rs 30,000.

The Best Goalkeeper title was bagged by Ng. Inao of Sunday FC while M. Shyam of UVSA took the Best Defender title, I. Robichandra of Sunday FC with Best Midfielder and N Gandhi of UVSA with Best Player title which carries as cash prizes of Rs 5000 each.

Keirao legislator, L Rameshwar Meetei along with L Baleshwor, Assistant Professor of Thambal Marik College , Oinam distributed the prizes.
