Upgradation of Takmu Water Sports complex likely

Union MoS for Home Affairs and YAS Nisith Pramanik has assured all possible assistance from the YAS Ministry on upgradation of Takmu Water Sports complex and has called for submission of a detailed report from the state YAS department at the earliest. 

The Minister made the statement during his visit to Loktak Lake on Sunday and said he was truly impressed by the allure of the Loktak Lake and assured of all possible assistance from his end in parameters such as ecological restoration and conservation of the lake, improvement of livelihood of the communities dependent on the lake, upgrading water sports facilities etc.

The Union MoS gave words of support and encouragement to the young water sports athletes of Takmu and expressed happiness on their exceptional performances at various levels since the last 2 decades.

The visit also included a plantation at INA HQ, interaction with young water sports athletes at Takmu, boat ride to Karang island, where he interacted with some fishermen based in the lake. 

He was accompanied by PW and YAS Minister Govindas Konthoujam; LDA Chairman M Asnikumar Singh; Principal Secretary YAS, Government of Manipur SS Chhabra and other central and state govt officials. As part of the same visit, he also visited INA Head Quarter and INA Memorial Hall Moirang, Water Sports Centre, Takmu, Chaoba Hill & Karang Island Loktak lake, Sendra Tourist spot etc.

Minister Govindas Konthoujam requested the Union MoS for assistance regarding upgradation of facilities at Takmu Water Sports complex and for SAI to take it over. In response, the Union MoS assured all possible assistance from the YAS Ministry and also requested for submission of a detailed report from the state YAS department at the earliest regarding the same.

Union MoS assured to visit the Loktak Lake exclusively for a few days in the very near future and appreciated Chief Minister N. Biren Singh and his team for accelerating development in the state; he reserved special appreciation for redevelopment of the historic INA to new heights by the state government.
