Underdogs units shine in 33rd Manipur State Taekwondo Championship

Out of the 12 gold medals on offer of the day, Kangla, LTA, PTA, SAI, UTA got the maximum bagging two each while NSA and Thoubal TA bagged one gold each.

It was the day of the underdogs as most of the units performed exceedingly well to bring glory and stay on the limelight in the ongoing 33rd Manipur State Taekwondo Championship 2024 organised by All Manipur Taekwondo Association at Indoor Stadium Khuman Lampak.

Out of the 12 gold medals on offer of the day, Kangla, LTA, PTA, SAI, UTA got the maximum bagging two each while NSA and Thoubal TA bagged one gold each.

Hensana Nongthombam clinched the gold medal for Kangla Unit beating S Nilson of TA Lairensajik in the Sub Junior Boys U-33 kg, while L Loiya of RTA and Th.Sanathoi of UTA took the bronze.  S Malemnganba Singh in Junior Boys U-73 kg took the other gold medal. 

The gold medals for PTA was claimed by W Binodjit in Sub Junior Boys U-23 and Thoihenba Ahanthem in U-35 of the same category. UTA gold medals came from the Senior Male category with M Ronaldo and M Pareihanba manoeuvring to perfection in U-63 and U-73 kg respectively.

T Yaiphaba of SAI fetched the gold medal in Cadet Boys U-65 kg, while compatriots Nivasis Moirangthem also landed the gold in Cadet Boys U-41 kg. LTA performers A Yumjaosana in Cadet Boys U-61 kg and L Rohit in Junior Boys U-68 kg also bagged the gold medals.

The NSA Imphal gold medal was grabbed by Nitish Waribam in Junior Boys U-51 kg, while S Imoba Singh of Thoubal TA took the gold medal in Cadet Boys U-33 kg.
