Students of UNACCO School, Khongman, who will be taking part in the 50th Nehru Junior Hockey Tournament to be held from September 2-14 at Shivaji Stadium, New Delhi, left Imphal on Wednesday.
Sending them off from the school premises, managing director N Irabanta also wished them to bring laurels for the state and the school.
He encouraged the team saying that they are not only representing the school but also the state of Manipur. As such winning in the tournament is a pride for the state, he said.
Manipur is known for its extra talent in games and sports and there are many internationally acclaimed sportspersons in the state. Among the various sports disciplines, hockey is one such game that has enough potential in the state, he said, adding that many hockey players are there in the state and further advised the team to play spiritually with dedication so that they can build a career in the field of sports.
The programme was also attended by staff of UNACCO school.
