Unacco School Meitram, Imphal West will face Five Star English High School, Lilong Dam Thoubal in the final match of the State Level 51st JN Junior Boys(U-17) Hockey Tournament 2023 on Monday at Hockey Stadium, Khuman Lampak.
Unacco School had won both their previous matches and in their last league, they stole the show, beating Wabagai High School, Kakching comfortably by 7-0 goals, enroute to the final.
Performing well in the tournament, the Unacco School got the early break from skipper S. Sanson who scored from a field goal in the 2th minute and later Y. Rishi in the 7th minute and M. Thoiba in the 9th minute consolidated their position.
Wabagai High School, who is reeling without any win, felt the pressure and seemed lost in the game and succumbed easily to their opponent. Unacco School landed blow after blow when M. Benarjit struck two goals in quick succession in the 16th and 25th minute and M. Borish in the 25th minute and later skipper S. Sanson dealt the final blow with the winning goal in the 46th minute.
As for the second match, Five Star English High School, Lilong Dam Thoubal overcame Young Pioneers' English School, Imphal East by 3-1 goals to book their final berth.
The match was open for both the teams as they have won a match each and whoever topped today, will make it to the final. Young Pioneers showed promise early in the game when Kh. Niraman fetched the leading goal in the 24th minute of the second quarter.
However, Five Star School built up more pressure in the third quarter and Ak. Irabot reduced the margin in the 38th minute and he went on to pick up the second goal in the 54th minute. Five Star skipper Ch. Rakeshbabu cracked late in the 55th minute to seal the fate of Young Pioneers' School.
As for the U-17 Girls, Unacco School Meitram, Imphal East got the better of Wabagai High School, Kakching by 4-1 goals. Unaco skipper L. Ritu and K. Eleena scored two goals each. The lone goal for Kakching was fetched by Divia O.
In the U-15 Boys matches, Wabagai High School thrashed RM School, Imphal West by 15-1 goals while Young Pioneers' English School, Imphal East drubbed Five Star English High School, Lilong Dam Thoubal by 17-0 goals.
