The representatives of various sports disciplines functioning in Ukhrul district on Monday unanimously resolved to participate in the upcoming 2nd edition of State Games, Manipur Olympic Games 2022.
As per a joint statement, after a threadbare deliberation at Ukhrul District Sports Association Office (UDSA) located at Wino bazar Ukhrul, the members agreed to participate in the forthcoming 2nd State Games, Manipur Olympic Games 2022 to be organised by the Manipur Olympic Association (MOA).
Teams from Ukhrul district will participate in the following disciplines namely football, boxing, badminton, basketball, fencing and table tennis, among others, it stated.
While expressing gratitude to Manipur Olympic Association (MOA) for organising such an event, it expressed strong resentment against MOA for not inducting any member from Ukhrul district as member of the Games Co-ordination Committee for the 2nd edition of the State Games.
It, however, agreed to extend maximum cooperation to the Ukhrul Co-ordinator appointed by the Manipur Olympic Association for smooth and successful conduct of the games.
The joint statement was issued by the following representatives namely Yaongam Sareo, vice president Ukhrul District Sports Association (UDSA), Kapingshang Phinao, president incharge Ukhrul District Taekwondo Association (UDTA), Paothan Luikham, president Ukhrul District Amateur Boxing Association (UDABA), Rungshing Kharay, general secretary Ukhrul District Basketball Association (UDBA), Chihansing Leisan, general secretary Ukhrul District Table Tennis Promoters Association (UDTTPA), Willy R, president Ukhrul District Fencing Association (UDFA), Graceson Varu, vice president Ukhrul District Badminton Association (UDBA) and Ayo Vasha, president Ukhrul District Hockey Association (UDHA).
