The election commission of Ukhrul District Olympic Association (UDOA) has set November 17, 2022 as election date for its office bearer for the tenure 2022-26. This was announced during the general body meeting of Ukhrul District Olympic Association (UDOA) held at Sam Food Court, Viewland, Ukhrul on Wednesday.
During the meeting as constituted by the GBM of UDOA held on October 10, 2022, the Election Commission of UDOA tabled the schedule and modalities for conducting free and fair election for the office bearer of UDOA for the tenure 2022-2026 and was unanimously approved by the members present today, stated a release issued by Phungchan Raikhan, Interim president, Ukhrul District Olympic Association today late evening.
The Election Commission of UDOA announced for conducting election for the following posts namely president (1 post), senior vice-president (1), vice-president (3), general secretary (1), joint secretaries (5), treasurer (1) and 7 Executive Members on President (1), Senior Vice-President (1), Vice-President (3), General Secretary (1), Joint Secretaries (5), Treasurer (1) and 7 Executive Members on 17 November 2022 as per the Memorandum of Association of UDOA. (Article V. (B) Election Procedure), it read.
Each Sports Association will be represented by the president and secretary of their respective discipline. Each member is entitled to only one vote and in the absence of president or secretary or both, the association’s president/secretary may recommend the members who will represent their Association in written addressed to the Returning Officer of UDOA on or before 10 November 2022, it further stated.
Criteria by the Election Commission of UDOA for intending candidates for the above mentioned 19 posts:
1. He/she should be a citizen of India
2. He/she must be a person of sound mind.
3. He/she must have no criminal record. Must attach “No Objection” certificate from concerned Police Station.
4. He/she should be a member of any sports discipline recognised by Manipur Olympic Association and his/her Association should be registered with the office of the Deputy Registrar of Societies, Ukhrul District, Manipur under the provision of Manipur Societies Registration Act, 1989.
5. He/She must be nominated by their respective Association’s President and Secretary.
Election Schedule:
a) Issue of nomination form: 28 October 2022
b) Last date of receiving of nomination form: 2 November 2022 till 04:00pm.
c) Date of scrutiny: 5 November 2022
d) Date of withdrawal: 8 November 2022 till 04:00pm
e) Date of Election: 17 November, 2022 at 01:00pm
Nomination forms
Nomination forms will be available by payment of Rs 500 only and can be collected from the Chief Election Commissioner of UDOA or Returning Officer of UDOA at UDSA Office, Wino Bazaar, Ukhrul from 28th October 2022 onwards during office hour, it added.
