Sports Wrap: Manipur suffers 8 wickets defeat against Nagaland in Vijay Hazare Trophy

Nagaland recorded  8 wickets victory over Manipur in the Senior Men's Vijay Hazare Trophy 2021-22 played at Soul Feet Cricket Stadium, Jaipur.

Manipur after winning the toss, decided to bat first where they managed a paltry 80 runs for 10 wickets from 32.4 over from the allotted 50 overs match.

Manipur batsmen made a sorry figure of themselves with Jayanta getting the highest score with 15 runs while rest Homendro made 13 runs. Nagaland bowler Abu Nechim Ahmed and Imliwati claimed 3 wickets each while R Jonathan fetch 2 wickets and SS Mundhe fetch 1 wicket.

Nagaland reached the target easily with SS Mundhe hitting an unbeaten 51 runs while R Jonathan also remained not out with 14 runs, to surpass the target in 28.3 overs for the loss of 2 wickets. Joshua fell for a duck while Sedezhalie made 11 runs. Manipur bowler Bishorjit claimed 1 wicket.

AIFF invites four players for extended trials

The All Manipur Football Association has informed that the AIFF has invited four players for extended trials to Youth National Team Camp for seven days.

The four players are Konjengbam Surendra Singh, Taorem Kelvin Singh, Nicholas Nahakpam and Arjun Singh Oinam.

The AIFF further notifies that if the four players are selected by the coaching staff then the players will continue in the National Team Camp for further preparations. The four players are to report at the venue by December 10 at Crystal Urban Park, Kharabela Nagar, Bhubaneshwar, Odisha.

Players must come along with the RTPCR Test report, Original Birth Certificate, Original Aadhar Card, Original School/College ID and Valid Passport.

AIFF appointment

 The AIFF has appointed M.Joychandra Singh, Head of Referees of Manipur, as Referee Assessor for Hero India I-League 2021-22 to be held at Kolkata from December 26, 2021 onwards. Joychandra Singh had to report to the venue by December 16.

AMFA appointment: The All Manipur Football Association has appointed two Referees Instructors to conduct Referees Recruitment cum Refresher Course for All Jiribam Sports Association from December 13-15 at Jiribam.

The two instructors are Irengbam Rabichandra Singh, AIFF Instructor and Moirangthem Magho Singh AMFA Instructor and they will report to the AJSA General Secretary on December 12 for conducting the course.
