DM Rao, Awang Sekmai showed the door to YHPU Lalambung by 3-1 goals in the ongoing 14th Shaheed Manoranjan Singh CRPF, Football Tournament 2023-24 organised by 143 Bn CRPF along with IWDFA and played at SAI Turf, Takyelpat.
DM Rao's team made their intention clear in the 12th minute of the game with Y Sonam wrestling enough power to push home the opening goal. The YPHU who are yet to taste competitive football for the season, put up challenges but failed to defend their wall, as O Rohit crashed through in the 24th minute to score the second goal.
Both teams rallied hard in the second half but DM Rao made the difference with O Rohit pumping home the third goal from a penalty in the 51st minute to boost the team morale. YHPU managed to get a crack at the goal in the 70th minute from Wunganing but it was too late to save them from elimination.
DM Rao players Abungo, Monex and YHPU player Ngoru Semi Moyon, Manisana received yellow cards in the match.
In the second match, TYDA Toubul blanked RFCC Keinou by 3-0 goals to proceed to the pre-quarter final. Josh Kh, K Rohit and Panmei Poujianlung scored the winning goals in the 45th+5, 68th and 85th minutes respectively. RFCC player S Dhanachandra was sent off with a red card in the 45th+5 minute while Rahul and TYDA players Panmei Poujianlung and W Rahul got yellow cards in the match.
