Mithali Raj --When an interviewer asked her "Who is your favourite male cricketer?", Mithali Raj quipped as if dismissing the questioner for a sixer ---  "Do you ask Virat Kohli which woman cricketer is his favourite!" Despite the overwhelming majority of limelight glamour wealth publicity hype imparted upon male cricketers, Mithali Raj stood her ground without accepting the status of female cricketers in lesser footing! To her, much neglected marginalised eve's cricket is not a bit less important than that of the guys!

Jhulan Goswami -- her personality as fiery as her bowling! Jhulan originally  hails from "glamourless" township of Chakdah, situated in the remote corner of Bengal's Nadia district. When a cheeky journalist tried to act smart by referring her as "Chak De Girl" by drawing "inspiration" from a much-hyped Bollywood film revolving around women's hockey with a megastar in lead role, Jhulan promptly delivered a bouncer ---  "I prefer to be known as Chakdah girl"! Just no inferiority complex revolving around her humble origin in a humbler environment! Rather, a sense of indebtedness towards the birthplace where she started her cricketing journey had enabled Jhulan to promptly reject the attempt to make her identity in line with a glamorous Bollywood film, however hit or popular it might be!

Punam Raut --  "Pink Test" between Indian eves and their Australian counterparts at Carrara! Half-hearted appeal by the Aussie bowler and the wicketkeeper, Umpire signalling not-out, no provision of DRS to reverse the decision; yet Punam walks off the field with her individual score being a not-so-handsome 36! This is called ethics values sportsman spirit and call of the conscience! Punam has once again reminded us that all can be sacrificed for the sake of ethics; but ethics cannot be sacrificed for the sake of anything despite the lure of material gains or personal milestones in this cut-throat competitive world.

These humble women cricketers of spine, self-respect, ethics, honesty and fighting spirit should be the true role models of the country.

No ugliness of toxic masculinity, no rhetoric of "patriotic" jingoism ---- rather it is nothing but poise, grace and civility when it comes to India's women cricket where all things sanity dominate the show!
