Sagolband United lift LS Trophy, KSC contend with runner up

Sagolband United of Imphal West, the champion team was awarded a trophy and cash prize of Rs 2 lakh.

The month-long mega football tournament LS Trophy 2022 concluded on Wednesday at Brig M Thomas ground Kangpokpi town.

The closing ceremony was graced by Outer Manipur MP Dr Lorho S Pfoze as chief guest while Chongpu Kipgen, President, District Sports Association Sadar Hills attended as Functional President, and Pastor Haopu, Centre Church KBC Kangpokpi as a blessing minister.

In the final match, Sagolband United of Imphal West routed Kuki Sporting Club 1-0 to lift the champion trophy. The winning goal for Sagolband United was scored by Shunjanthang in the 50th minute.

The champion team was awarded a trophy and cash prize of Rs 2 lakh while the runner-up KSC was awarded a trophy and cash prize of Rs1 lakh.

Manipur Terrier Imphal's Premchand Singh was awarded the tournament's top scorer and a hat-trick and Sagolband United's defender Achan was awarded the best defender while KSC's Lungousem was awarded the best player award.

Sagolband United Physio Joylalita was awarded the first woman Physiotherapist in the tournament and FC Gorkha won the best team award.

The semifinalists Symropia FC and TASA were also awarded a cash prize of Rs 25,000 each.
