Rapid Chess: Nelson, Nadia clinch top titles

Nadia ended the five round match with 3 points in par with Nongthombam Jojo Chanu of Nirmalabas School, but the former got the title with better progressive points.

Laishram Nelson of St Patrick's English School clinched the champion title of the Boys category of 1st One Day U-20 Rapid Chess Tournament 2022, organised by D Chess Academy at Uripok Khoisnam Leikai, Imphal West.

Nadia Sougaijam of Heritage Convent bagged the Girls title, beating 30 players including three rated players.

In the Boys category, Laishram Nelson overcame Moirangthem Deendayal of Imphal College to lay his hand on the champion title. Although both players finished with 4.5 points each, Nelson got the edge with better progressive score and Deendayal had to contend with the runners up title.

The other players who finished in the five top spots are Ksh Aimson of St Joseph Higher Secondary School, Maibam Yohenba Khuman of St Joseph Higher Secondary School with Dayanand Thoudam of Shishu Nishtha Niketan, who all grabbed 4 points each.

The top five were awarded with trophies and certificates.
