The main champion of the 18th Kangpokpi Inter Ward Tournament 2022, Phungtin Veng was felicitated at the residence of the ward chairman on Sunday.
Phungtin Veng clinched the Champion trophy after defeating Jonlhing veng 3-0 in the final match on Saturday, and it was the first Champion trophy of the ward after bifurcating from Zaphal Veng, Ward No IX.
Chief of L Songtun Satminlun Kipgen attended the felicitation ceremony as the chief guest while Lunjakap Haokip and Songsat Gangte attended as guest of honour and president respectively.
Kangpokpi Town Committee members led by its chairman Angam Leivon, Kangpokpi Women Welfare Organisation leaders led by its president Hekim Hangshing and Kangpokpi Youth Union members led by its president Haolet Khongsai also attended the function.
Gifts and presentations to the players and lifting of the champion trophy and cheering the championship were the main highlights of the programme.
Pastor KIBC reverend Tongkhojang Elmun, exhorted the players according to the Bible and prayed for their well-being while giving thanks to the almighty for his abundant blessing in their achievement.
A grand celebration feast marked the day session while the night session was attended by Robert Hekai Kipgen as chief guest and Lhunkhomang Khongsai and Hepung Haokip as guest of honour and president respectively with a concert performed by various prominent Kuki artiste such as Jajai Singsit, James Arjun, Arjun Seilenmang, Helamboi Baite, etc.
