Manipur sports climbers bagged the Team Champion title claiming 16 medals in the IMF North East Zonal Sports Climbing Competition 2022 held at Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship Complex, Guwahati from July 22-24.
Manipur finished with 9 Gold, 2 Silver and 5 Bronze medals for 36 points while Arunachal Pradesh took the Runners Up title with 2 Gold, 5 Silver and 3 Bronze medals for 19 points and the host team settled for the third spot with 2 Gold, 4 Silver and 4 Bronze medals for 18 points.
Meghalaya got 2 Gold,1 Silver, 3 Bronze while Nagaland managed 1 Gold, 1 Silver and Mizoram and Tripura returned home without any medals.
The host team Assam had the biggest squad with 43 climbers while Manipur had ten sports climbers in the meet.
The medal winner for Manipur are Hijam Merina Chanu who bagged three gold medals while Yumlembam Puspa Chanu, Nongdamba Yumnam fetched two gold medals each and MD.Minaishin Maring and Thokchom Boynao Singh pick up one gold medal each.
Chiteshwry Rajput and MD. Minaishin Maring also collected two silver medals while Th.Boynao Singh cracked two bronze medals, Y. Puspa Chanu, Nongdamba Yumnam and MD. Minaishin Maring collected one bronze medal each in the meet.
