Fencer Nelson S, representing Chandel Units, delivered a gold medal in the Epee event of the Junior Boys category in the 19th Governor's Cup State Level Fencing Championship 2023 held at Indoor Stadium, SAI Complex, Takyelpat.
Nelson was pitied against Sh Zenith of Imphal East but ultimately prevailed in the end for the gold. Th Prithibiraj of Imphal West and L Thoungamba of Thoubal took the bronze medals.
On the other hand, Imphal East fencers bagged three more gold medals in the Junior category of Foil and Sabre event.
In the Junior Girls Foil event, W Sonia claimed the gold medal beating Dayarani of Imphal East while in Junior Boys, H Hemash beat K Deny of Thoubal for the gold and silver medals.
As for the Sabre event, Moramba L of Imphal East bagged the gold medal beating A Thoinao of Imphal West, who had to contend with the silver medal.
