Manipur settled for the Runners-Up title bagging 12 medals in the 11th Senior National Pencak Silat Championship 2023 organised by Maharashtra Pencak Silat at Meenatai Thackeray Indoor Stadium, Nasik, Maharashtra from August 12-15.
The defending champion finished with 7 Gold, 1 Silver and 4 Bronze medals.
On the concluding day of the championship, Manipur claimed six medals including four gold medals to jump their position to the second spot.
The gold medal winners are Huidrom Bishan Meitei in Male Tanding 60-65kg, Naoren Boynao Meitei in Male Tanding 50-55kg, Thounaojam Rita Chanu in Female Tanding 45-50kg and Yaikhom Anajali Devi in Female Tanding 55-60kg.
As for the Female Tanding 65-70kg, Sanasham Sophia Chanu grabbed the silver medal while Shanjetshabam Bidyaluxmi Devi took the bronze medal in Female Tanding 45kg category.
Earlier in the championship, Sinam Chingkhei, Sinam Jeevan had claimed the gold medals in Male Seni Artistic Ganda event. The other gold medal was fetched by Naorem Boynao in Male Solo Creative event.
In the Male Tunggal event, Huidrom Bishan Meetei took the bronze while Th.Dayalaxmi Chanu had to contend with a bronze in the Female Ganda event.
As per their performance from the championship, fifteen boys and girls have been qualified for representing Manipur in the 37th National Games 2023 at Goa in November this year.
