Manipur weightlifters shone with yet another podium finish when Sorokhaibam Bidyarani Devi lifted the third gold medal in the Women 59 kg Weightlifting event in the 36th National Games 2022 held at Mahatma Mandir, Gujarat.
Bidyarani added another gold medal to Manipur coffer when she lifted 83 kg in Snatch and 111 kg in Clean & Jerk for a total of 194 kg.
Assam lifter Popy Hazarika bagged silver medal with 193 kg and Davinder Kaur of Punjab settled for the bronze medal with 192 kg.
This is the third gold medal in Weightlifting event after S Mirabai Chanu in 49 kg and Ph Ranibala Devi in 55 kg on Friday.
In the Cycling event, L Ronaldo Singh claimed a gold medal in the 1 kilometer Time Trial with a 01:02.343 seconds held at CHH Road, Gandhinagar.
In addition, M Sonali Chanu of Manipur also bagged a silver medal in the 500 meter Time Trial with 36:607 seconds while T Manorama Devi also landed a bronze medal in the 10 kilometer Scratch Race.
As for the Women football, Manipur registered an opening win of 5-2 goals against Tamil Nadu played at Shahibagh Police Ground, Ahmedabad.
For Manipur, Roja Devi scored the opening goal in the 13th minute of the game while S Rinaroy Devi struck twice in the 21st minute and the 47th minute, while Ng Bala Devi in the 32nd minute and Priyanka Devi in the 90 plus minute fetched a goal each.
In the Fencing event, L Anita Devi settled for silver medal in Foil Girls Individual while N Mina Devi took the bronze medal in Foil Girls Individual as well.
Manipur so far has collected 6 Gold, 3 Silver and 5 Bronze medals from Weightlifting, Fencing,Cycling and Skating events. On Saturday, four gold medals were collected with two from Cycling, one from weight lifting and one from Skating along with 2 silver and 2 bronze medals.
