MYC Inter Units sports 2022 kicks off in Moreh

The KWUHR president said that participating in sports need self-discipline and can lead to immediate and long-term benefits for youth, their families, and communities.

The 18th Inter-units sports 2022 organised by the Moreh Youth Club (MYC) kicked off on Monday at Galngam Lentoul, Moreh.

Secretary of the Moreh Pastor Fellowship (MPF) Rev KK Hahao dedicated the sports meet and president of the Moreh Youth Club Philip K Khongsai gave the welcome speech.

Former ADC Chandel member and current convenor incharge of the Moreh town Committee Cecilia Chinneivah Haokip graced the opening ceremony as chief guest and Romila Mate, president Kuki Women Union and Human Rights (KWUHR) Moreh, attended as functional president.

Thethem Vaiphei (vice president KWUHR Moreh), Lambem Chongloi (chairperson KWUHR Unit -9) and Chinneo Touthang (Chairperson KWUHR Unit- 8) were the guests of honour in the 18th MYC Inter-units sports.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, president of the Kuki Women Union for Human Rights Romila Mate said that sports provide a platform for people to come together and support each other. It is a key to develop the mental and physical well being of grown-up youths.

The KWUHR president said that participating in sports need self-discipline and can lead to immediate and long-term benefits for youth, their families, and communities. She also appealed to all the participating youths to maintain discipline while playing the matches.

As a part of its effort in diverting grown up youths from drug menace, the Moreh Youth Club had been organising Inter-units sports for its 13 units every year.

Besides football, Volleyball is included in this year's Inter-units sports meet. The sports meet itself begin with Volleyball match between unit- 3 and 9,

In the Opening match of the Women's volleyball, Unit-3 Homeguard veng defeated defending champion Unit-9 Lhangkichoi Veng with 25-16, 25-19, 25-16, while New Moreh beat Zion Veng with 22-25, 25-9, 25-21, 25-15 in men's Volleyball.
