The Manipuri Students’ Federation (MSF) will observe the 5th Manipur Players’ Day on February 25.
MSF has been remembering the day after former chief Minister of Manipur, Wahengbam Nipamacha, commenced the first Manipur Players’ Day in 1999 to mark the historic win of Manipur in the fifth National Games held from February 14-25 in the same year.
The release stated that 5th Manipur Players’ Day Invitational Football Championship 2023 will be organised ahead of Players’ Day. Student organisations AMSU, MSF, DESAM, KSA, SUK and AIMS will take part in the league matches and semi-final matches to be held from February 23 to 25. Final match of the championship will be played on February 25 at RPU Club ground in Khongjom Papal, Thoubal district, the release added.
MSF appealed to the people to attend the event to acknowledge the contribution of the players.
An exhibition match between student organisations and actors of the state will also be played on the day, the release added.
