Manipur State League 2022: AFC Thoubal, United Khawzim Brothers record comfortable wins

The Athletic Football Club, Thoubal pinned down Young Physique Union, Lalambung by 4-2 goals in the 15th Manipur State League 2022 played at Artificial Turf, Lamlong Thongkhong.

The AFC team made a solid beginning, giving their heart on every opportunity to raise their bar when W Tejkumar Singh put them ahead in the 4th minute of the play. Making good progress in the game, Premkumar Thangjam struck home the second goal from a powerful volley in the 8th minute to dominate the proceedings.

However, their over enthusiastic approach also paid good dividends to YPHU Lalambung as they got a penalty in the 18th minute and Lungouhao Hangshing made no mistake in converting the goal. As tempo of the game rises, the AFC made a lunge to break its opponent's defence and W Tejkumar Singh found the perfect angle to slot home the third goal in the 27th minute to lead 3-1 goals in first half play.

Young Physique Union started to get their act together and Lungouhao Hangshing, once again, proved his mettle netting the second goal in the 54th minute to bring a slight ray of hope to his teammates. Challenging hard, the AFC sweated out and finally they were able to bring justice to their hard work with M Malemnganba picking up the fourth goal from a goalmouth melee in the 90 plus 3 minute for the victory.

Two AFC players Kh Jolly, Sahidur Rahaman received yellow cards for rough play in the match.

In another match, United Khawzim Brothers thrashed Yarkhok United FC by 4-0 goals. Yarkhok United put up resistance in the early part of the game but United Khawzim tore down their defence with Lamthianlal scoring the opening goal in the 40th minute.

Later, in the second half, Manglienboi Kipgen in the 86th, Mangoulen M Haokip in 88th and Seiminthang Haokip in 90 plus 1 minute struck a piece for the comfortable victory.
