Manipur MMA fighter Satgunhao Kipgen selected for World Championship

Mixed Martial Arts fighter from Kangpokpi, Satgunhao Kipgen, won another goal at the recently concluded AIMMAF National Championship in Goa.

Mixed Martial Arts fighter from Kangpokpi, Satgunhao Kipgen, added another feather to his cap and brough more laurels to the state when he won another goal at the recently concluded All India Mix Martial Arts Federation (AIMMAF) National Championship in Goa.

The young MMA fighter also won a gold medal at Goa Night Fight Pro Fighters and was selected for the world championships which is to be held soon.

Considering his great achievements, the Kuki Inpi Kangpokpi, Thadou Inpi, KSO, TSA, Kipgen Khanglai Kiloikhom, families, and well wishes rolled a red carpet for the MMA fighter at Bir Tikendrajit International Airport when he returned from Goa Monday morning.

The MMA fighter was also accorded a warm welcome at his native village Saparmeina and another grand reception ceremony was held at Kangpokpi District Headquarters by the local town bodies including Kangpokpi Town Committee, Kangpokpi Women Welfare Organization, and Kangpokpi Youth Union.

Kangpokpi Town Committee, Kangpokpi Women Welfare Organization, and Kangpokpi Youth Union leaders also presented the MMA fighter with a traditional shawl and muffler as a mark of appreciation and encouragement.

A resident of Vengthah Kangpokpi Ward No.3, Paomin Kipgen and Hatnu Kipgen, a couple, who sponsored the young MMA fighter organized a reception feast at their residence after the formal reception ceremony at Kangpokpi Town Committee office.

Earlier, Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh had also felicitated the young MMA fighter at his secretariat after winning goal at the AIMMAF National Open MMA Championship in Delhi this year.

The chief minister motivated him to continue his practice dedicatedly to achieve more success and the young fighter shortly accomplished the wishes of the chief minister by bagging another two-goal medal recently in Goa.

The young gold medallist, who lost his father at a tender age, despite his family's financial problems, pursued his career in MMA with the support of his widowed mother and his four siblings which ultimately helped him in bagging the first gold medal in the Northeast Fight Championship held in Guwahati in 2019.

In 2021, Satgunhao secured a silver in the Interstate Wushu Championship, 2020. He also won a gold in Hero Pro Fight Night, 2021 in Maharashtra and a silver in the All India Mixed Martial Arts Federation National Mixed Martial Arts Championship held in Bangalore before his recent achievements.

Satgunhao Kipgen aims to be a successful UCF and his priority is to train in Thailand.
