Liberal College, Luwangsangbam edged out Modern College by 5-3 goals via a penalty shootout seeking their berth to the quarter final of A Pratap Singh Memorial Manipur University Inter College Football (M) Tournament 2023-24 hosted by N Birahari College at Khundrakpam.
It was a trying time for Liberal College as they were trailing by a goal down to Modern College from JTR Chungthalen in the 12th minute of the game. But K Jayananda made a herculean effort to fetch the equaliser in the 30th minute to level out 1-1 goals during normal time.
However, Liberal College took the centre stage in the penalty shootout with S Sachin, Y Langamba, L Rishikanta and H Arbin converting their shots. As for Modern College, MN Leishi Maring and Kamei Kagundai managed to beat the Liberal College keeper.
In the other match, Mayai Lambi College outplayed Mangolnganbi College by 5-1 goals to sail into the quarter final. N Ronaldo proved his worth for Mayai Lambi College, scoring four goals while N Rohit put in one goal. The lone goal for Mangolnganbi College was made by Th Netaji.
