The 4th Sekmai SC Shinglup Yaoshang Football Tournament 2023 concluded on Sunday with Khunou Makha Shinglup (KMS) being the winner of the tournament by defeating Mayai Leikai Khul Shinglup (MLKS) at three-two goals in the final match.
Organised by the Niphu Shinglup Sekmai Makha Leikai in an aim to encourage a healthy lifestyle, as many as 17 different teams of Sekmai participated in the tournament.
The winning team KMS returned home with a cash prize of Rs. 20,000, citations and a trophy while the runner-up team MLKS returned home with a cash prize of Rs. 15,000, citations and trophy.
Speaking at the closing ceremony of the tournament as chief guest, president of All Sekmai SC Development Committee Kh Surjamani lauded the efforts of the organiser for not only contributing in the field of games and sports but also for the overall welfare of the Sekmai SC constituency.
Former MLA Kh Devendra while delivering the presidential address talked on the good notes of introducing games and sports in every locality during the Yaoshang festival.
Games and sports are the key to a healthy and responsible society with the stepping stone to development, he said. Such tournaments are a great initiative to hunt the talented youths, he added.
The programme was also attended by retired EO A Brajamani Singh as guest of honour.
