Boxer Henthoi Singh Mayengbam boxed his way to the gold medal in the 6th Khelo India Youth Games 2023-24 held at Chennai, Tamil Nadu.
In the 60kg bout final, Henthoi beat Karan Kumar of Uttarkhand for the gold and silver medals.
Leichombam Lamnganba Mangang also boxed his way to the gold medal beating Umesh Kumar of Delhi in the 54 kg bout, while Thokchom Supriya Devi defeated her opponent in the 54 kg bout to land on the gold medal.
However another female Manipur boxer Elangbam Thoicha Devi had to settle for the silver medal in the 48 kg bout final.
In the Cycling event, Heisnam Premika Chanu bagged the silver medal and in the Fencing Foil Team event, Manipur got the bronze medals. So far, Manipur has claimed 7 gold, 6 silver and 9 bronze medals.
