Manipur girl judokas made a sweep of five gold medals in the Cadet category of 3rd Khelo India Women's League Judo 2023 held at Indoor Stadium, Khuman Lampak Sports Complex.
Out of the six gold medals on offer, Tripura whisked away one gold medal with Indrani Das beating L Anu of Manipur in Cadet 40 kg bout. Tripura's Uma Begam and Manipur's N Dayarani Devi settled for bronze medals.
In the Cadet girls 44 kg bout it was a Manipur affair as E Bidyaluxmi claimed the gold medal while M Silky took the silver and P Rojana, L Daiya Devi fetched the bronze medals.
Thangjam Maloti also landed the gold medal beating Suheta Das of Tripura in the 48 kg. The other gold medalists for Manipur are S Rashitombi in 52 kg, Y. Athoibi in the 57 kg and Y. Biplia Devi in 63 kg bout.
The Cadet category offered Manipur 5 gold, 2 silver and 7 bronze medals while Tripura got 1 gold, 4 silver and 5 bronze medals and West Bengal got 1 silver medal.
Players from Nagaland, Mizoram, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, Jharkhand who were supposed to compete in the tournament failed to arrive for the meet.
