Debutante Phat Chomkhat Sporting Club (PCSC), Saparmeina and Vomthang Memorial Team (VMT), L Lhangnom cruised through to the final of the Kuki Football Academy's Open Night Football Tournament to be played on Monday evening at D Phaihel village in Kangpokpi district.
Of over 50 participating teams, the two debutants managed to make it to the final.
In the first thrilling semi-finals match on Saturday evening, Phat Chomkhat Sporting Club edged past contender Henthang Lhunlal Memorial Team, K Gamnomphai Motbung with a narrow 2-1 victory to book the final berth.
Thanglenkai found the opener for the Saparmeina side in the 10th minute before Jangminlal doubled the lead in the 90+3 minutes while the memorial team got a penalty in the last minute of the injury time which was beautifully converted by Thangcha to pull back a goal for the memorial team.
In the second match, Vomthang Memorial Team (VMT), L Lhangnom drubbed AMFA Cup team Jamsat Songtun Youth Club (JSYC) 2-0 to sail through to the final.
Seikhohao shines bright with his brace in the 19th, and 60th minutes to give the debutant memorial team its maiden final berth.
In the men's volleyball semifinal match, Saikotjang Youth Club defeated Doulhun Memorial Team in a 3-1 set (24/12, 24/25, 25/15, 25/17) to book the final berth while in the second semifinal match, Galbung Saikul defeated Complex Kangpokpi in a narrow 3-2 set (25/20, 24/25, 25/20, 24/25, 25/24) to enter the final round.
In women's volleyball, Teenstar defeated Saikotjang Youth Club in a 3-1 set (21/6, 21/6, 20/21, 21/10) while Rangers Kangpokpi defeated Women Police Kangpokpi in a straight three-set (21/14, 21/14, 21/11).
