Wangoi High School, Imphal West edged out Madhumati Government High School, Bishnupur by 4-3 goals to emerge winner in the final of U-17 Girls Inter State Subroto Mukherjee Football Tournament 2022 organised by YAS Manipur at Artificial Turf, Lamlong Thongkhong.

By virtue of the win, Wangoi High School will represent Manipur in the U-17 Girls category National Subroto Mukherjee Football Tournament.

Madhumati Government girls put up a brave fight from the start of the match and took the lead when O Babita scored the opening goal in the 2nd minute for the lead in the first half.

The Wangoi girl, who was desperate for the equaliser got the breakthrough when T Thoibisana struck in the second half play of the 37th minute and little later she went on to consolidate with the leading goal in the 41st minute. Going neck to neck in seeking more goals, Madhumati Government High School, took the leap when O Babita unleashed her prowess, striking two more goals in the 45th and 56th minute for her hattrick goals.

But the joy was short lived for the Madhumati girls as Wangoi High School collected all their reserved strength to fetch the equaliser from L Menaka in the 53rd and later N Nandeshwori pumped home the winning goal in the 61st minute for the victory on Sunday.
