Imphal East Polo Tournament: X-Polo Club gallops with Champion title

X-Polo Club collected Rs 30,000 along with the Champion Trophy while Chingkheihunba Polo Club(A) fetched the Runners Up title with Rs 20,000.

X-Polo Club rode off with the Champion title beating Chingkheihunba Polo Club(A) by 5-3 goals in the 2nd Imphal East District Polo Tournament 2022 played at Yairipok Top Chingtha and Ningthounai Kangjeibung Lampak.

X-Polo Club riders displayed cool and composed look as they take on Chingkheihunba Polo Club and set to task in two minute of play when skipper P. Ojit strikes home the opening goal and later Leishemba Takhelambam push home the second goal to take the lead in the first chukker.

Falling behind by two goals, Chingkheihunba rider catches up in the second chukker with H. Muhindro and L. Thomson, putting their experience to good use, to hammer home the equalizer. However X-Polo Club continued their crusade and it was Leishemba Takelambam, who struck to gain the lead in the halftime.

Galloping hard in the third chukker, X-Polo Club raised the tempo of the game and consolidated their position when Th. Jacob pushed home the fourth goal to maintain a 4-2 goals advantage. The fourth chukker proved even more fruitful for X-Polo Club as Leishemba Takhelambam found the scoring easy to strike home the fifth goal.

With minutes ticking away for the final whistle, Chingkheihunba Polo Club made late moves and was able to find their third goal from O. Rozer, but it came too late for the champion title.

Tulihal Zila Parishad, K.Inaocha Devi along with other dignitaries distributed the prizes to the teams.
