Fencers of Imphal East claimed six medals including two gold in the 19th Governor's Cup State Level Fencing Championship 2023 which got underway at Indoor Stadium, SAI Takyel, Imphal.
In the Cadet Girls Sabre event, T Ambika of Imphal East clinched the gold medal while compatriot P Babydaina took the silver, A Kerolina of Ukhrul and Priya N of Imphal East grabbed the bronze medals.
Imphal East also landed their second gold medal in the Cadet Girls Epee event with L Chinglembi bagging the gold while compatriot Deviya N settled for silver, G Keniya of Senapati and N Poireinganbi of Imphal East fetched the bronze medals.
Altogether 226 fencers including 135 male fencers and 91 female fencers from Imphal East, Imphal West, Thoubal, Ukhrul, Chandel and Senapati are participating in the championship, organised by Manipur Fencing Association which will continue till November 22.
International fencer Waikhom Sonia took the oath of sportsmanship in the inaugural session on Saturday.
