Hockey India Sub-Junior Women's Championship to begin on Wednesday

The opening match of the championship will have host Manipur Hockey taking on Kerala Hockey under floodlights at 5.30 pm.

Teams from other states have started trickling in since Tuesday morning for the 12th Hockey India Sub-Junior Women National Championship 2022 which will begin on Wednesday at Hockey Stadium, Khuman Lampak.

As many as 25 teams from States and Union Territories a
ltogether have confirmed their participation in the championship.

On Tuesday, 18 teams have already arrived for the competition while it is said the remaining teams will arrive accordingly as per their match fixtures.

Teams from Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Bihar, Assam, Punjab, Jharkhand, Arunachal Pradesh, Bengal, Tripura, Haryana, Odisha, Uttar Pradesh, Mizoram, Maharashtra, Chandigarh, Gujarat, Telangana and Manipur have reached Manipur for the Championship.

Teams from Jammu & Kashmir, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Karnataka, Himachal Pradesh will be reaching the state soon.

The championship will be opened by Chief Minister N Biren Singh, who is also the patron-in chief of Manipur Hockey, YAS Minister Govindas Konthoujam along with president Hockey India, Commissioner YAS Gyanendra Ningombam; IFS SS Chhabra and president Manipur Hockey Dr Basudev at 3 pm on Wednesday.

With the arrival of the teams, the managers’ meeting was held today with Hockey India, president Gyanendra Ningombam at the chair, discussing dos and don'ts for the smooth conduct of the championship.
