The Headquarter Athletic Union (HAU) were crowned the champion of the (L) T Khaikhanlian Churachandpur District 1st Division League 2022 defeating New Lamka Youth Club 2-1 at Hiangtam Lamka Public Ground on Saturday.
The winners were awarded a trophy, a citation and Rs 20,000 cash, while the runner-up team was awarded a trophy and cash prize of Rs 10,000.
The 1st Division League 2022 was organised by Churachandpur District Sports Association and sponsored by (L) T Khaikhanlian family where 14 teams participated with the two finalists promoted to play in the upper tier, the Supper division league in the coming session.
In the tournament, Nanggoulian from NLYC was adjudged the best player, Lalremmoia (NLYC) as best goal keeper and Paukhansuan from HAU was the top scorer.
Letpu Haokip, President of Kuki Inpi Churachandpur, as chief guest, inspected the players along with the President of CDSA, Lalvullien and other officials including the donor T Lianminthang, who is the director of SAI.
