Imphal East fencers continued to shine, piercing their way to ten gold medals in the 19th Governor's Cup State Level Fencing Championship 2023 held at Indoor Stadium, SAI Takyelpat, Imphal West.
Fencers from Imphal East took five gold medals on Saturday, adding five more on Sunday while Imphal West and Senapati fencers had gained two gold medals each in addition to other medals.
In the Senior Women Epee event, L Bidyapati of Imphal East beat compatriot S. Chingkheinganbi for the gold and silver while Linthoi Haobam of Thoubal and S Nacyrose also of Thoubal settled for the bronze medals.
As for the Senior Women Sabre event, Th Daina of Imphal East claimed the gold while N Ambika of Imphal East fetched the silver and Muruka Laxshmi of Imphal East, Th Baby of Imphal West grabbed the bronze medals.
N Thoihensana of Imphal East delivered another gold medal in the Mini Boys Foil event beating Shrerth O of Imphal East while Nelmarch of Senapatiand S Shyrush of Imphal West got the bronze medals.
The Mini Epee Boys got another gold medal for Jacewon of Imphal East while Banisa G of Imphal East took the silver and Thoungam H of Imphal West and Derrick H of Imphal East got the bronze medals.
Senapati District fencer Richtopper N also landed the second gold medal beating Th Willson of Imphal East in the Mini Boys Sabre event. H Luching of Senapati and L.Khumanlakpa of Imphal East claimed the bronze medals.
As for the Mini Girls Foil, Imphal West fencer RK Rashina beat K Shinthanganbi of Imphal East for the gold and silver medal while Ch Puspa of Imphal East and A Jorina of Senapati took the bronze medal. In the Mini Epee Girls event, S Chilsilla of Imphal East bagged the gold while compatriot Rubiyanw got the bronze and Ksh Romaria and Sonika RK, both of Imphal East got the bronze medals.
It can be mentioned that Imphal East fencers P Mangalleibi in Cadet Girls Foil, K Avinash in Cadet Boys Foil and Th Somila in Mini Girls Sabre had fetched a gold medal in the late evening session yesterday.
In addition, Saiyol N of Senapati in Cadet Boys Sabre and K Ramakanta of Imphal West in Cadet Boys Epee had also claimed a gold medal each.
