The 35th edition of the General Tournament of the Eastern Lamkang Naga Sporting Association (ELNSA) kicked off on Monday at Riindamkhuw Village in Chandel district.
Organised by the Eastern Lamkang Naga Sporting Association (ELNSA), the tournament will be held from April 24-29.
In the first football match of the tournament, Kotal Khutum defeated YSCT-B by two goals to nil. Darshing opened the scoring for Kotal Khutum in the 8th minute of the match with Rengmi adding another in the 19th minute.
Khumson of YSCT-B was cautioned in the 53rd minute of the match for a foul play.
In the second match of the day, Mantri Pantha defeated Lungkharlown via a penalty shot after both the teams ended on two goals each after the full time.
During the match, Mantri Pantha drew first blood, scoring in the 21st minute through Wanghring Dilbung only to be equalised 3 minutes later by Sk Ringchan of Lungkharlown. Then, 6 minutes later, Lungkharlown doubled their lead via a goal by Ss Rengam in the 30th minute. However, this was also equalized in the 71st minute for M Pantha by Beningam Kangten.
During the penalty shoot-out, Sk Shelston, Kh Rengminthang and Kh Forthson scored for Lungkharlown while Anglarshing Ss, Kh Leonard, D Chamshel and D Moses scored for Mantri Pantha to win the match.
