Wangbren Pana was crowned the overall team champion of the four-day Citizens Club’s 53rd Annual Sports Festival 2023 held at Soibam Leikai in Imphal East, thus walking away with the trophy.
As many as four panas (team) namely, Wangbren, Marjing, Koubroo and Thangjing participated in the sports festival which included various disciplines such as mini-soccer, long jump, high jump, march-past competition and other entertaining games including cultural competitions and a cleanliness and beautification competition.
The festival concluded with a glittering award ceremony and the de-hosting of the club’s flag along with the panas flag by the president of Citizens’ Club, Mahendra Naorem, and the respective pana lakpas (team leader).
Speaking on the occasion, Mahendra Naorem highlighted the importance of games, sports, culture and tradition in shaping a better society, free from all abusive substances.
He informed that the festival also aims to tap the potential of the youths and provide a room to those talented youths in their respective fields.
