5th State Level Pencak Silat Championship ends; Imphal East win 44 gold

Imphal East scored 67 medals in total with 44 gold, 13 silver and 10 bronze and defended the title of overall team position of runner up team.

The fifth State Level Pencak Silat Championship 2022-23 organised by Imphal East District Pencak Silat Association under the Pencak Silat Association of Manipur concluded on Saturday at Sekta Mayai Leikai Community Hall.

The 5th Pencak Silat Championship which was held from July 21 till 23 was participated by six units of a total of 170 sportsmen. including 60 girls and 110 boys from five districts and various Manipur police sports clubs in the state.

The closing ceremony was attended by minister of PHED, CAF & PDD, Manipur L  Sushindro, Manipur Handloom and Handicrafts Development Corporation ltd chairman Kh Ibomcha, former special protection group P Rajendro Meitei, social worker Yumnam Ibohal Yourabung, Pungdongbam Gram Panchayat former pradhan Irungbam Prem as the chief guests, president and guest of honour  respectively.

In the championship, former champion Imphal East scored 67 medals in total with 44 gold, 13 silver and 10 bronze and defended the title of overall team position of runner up team; Imphal West secured the third place by scoring a total of 28 medals with 12 gold, 8 silver and 8 bronze.

The Imphal East District Pencak Silat Association expressed delight on Imphal East team winning the State Level Pencak Silat Championship again.
