Dominating the judo mats, Manipur judokas took more rigid grips picking up three gold medals in the 37th National Games 2023 at Goa.
Continuing their yeoman efforts, T Inunganbi Chanu landed on the gold medal in the Women 70 kg category bout while M Indubala also struck gold in the 78 kg bout on Wednesday.
The Mixed Team of Manipur judokas also floored their opponent, bagging the gold medal of the day. The mixed team consisted of L Jagadish in 73 kg, Th Ningthemba in 90 kg and H Birkamal in plus 90 kg while the women judokas are H Sobhashini in 57 kg, T Inunganbi in 70 kg and L Roshni in plus 70 kg.
Mentioned may be that Manipur judokas have already claimed two gold medals and two silver and two bronze medals each on Tuesday to provide a wholesome total of 5 Gold, 2 Silver and 2 Bronze medals in the Judo event that concluded on Wednesday.
The Manipur team contingent is led by Soibam Ranbir as Manager while Angom Surjit Meitei (Women) and Thangjam Sanatomba (Men) as Coaches.
As for the Men's Football, Manipur had to settle for the silver medal after they were beaten by Services Sports Control Board (Services) by 3-1 goals in the final match.
In the Canoe Sprint 1000 meter-K1 Men's event, O Arun Singh of Manipur settled for the bronze medal. Mentioned may be the gold and silver medals of the event was won by a Manipur native but representing SSCB (Services) and Madhya Pradesh.
The medal tally for Manipur is 32 Gold, 22 Silver and 30 Bronze medals giving a total of 84 medals.
