In the wake of recent violent upheavals that have shaken Manipur's very foundation, the fallout within the educational sector stands as a grim testament to the gravity of the situation. The echoes of chaos and disruption continue to reverberate, leaving a stark impact on the educational landscape, particularly among Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and children.

The ramifications are distressingly evident: disrupted schooling, mental turmoil for young minds akin to the distressing days of the pandemic, and an educational environment fraught with challenges hindering the pursuit of knowledge. The prevailing environment, marred by violence, not only disrupts academic routines but also poses a grave risk to the mental well-being and growth of these children.

The challenges faced by the broader public in accessing quality education are deeply rooted. Despite an increase in educational institutions and enrolment, the quality of education remains a persistent concern. Outdated curricula, inadequate vocational institutes, and a mismatch between educational offerings and the demands of the job market have led to a growing pool of unemployed graduates.

Addressing these systemic issues requires a multifaceted approach. The National Education Policy (NEP) introduced in 2020 offers a transformative framework, envisioning a restructured educational system focused on cognitive development stages, early childhood care, and experiential learning. However, effective implementation remains a challenge, especially in the face of infrastructure gaps.

While recent promises to exempt examination fees for Internally Displaced Students offer a glimmer of hope, the core issue lies beyond financial burdens. It resides in creating a conducive, stress-free environment that nurtures learning and growth.

Minister Th Basanta Kumar's assertion about Manipur's above-average implementation of NEP 2020 is encouraging. Yet, it's clear that infrastructure challenges persist and demand immediate attention. The upcoming initiative, 'College Phagathanshi', slated for launch, holds promise but must be accompanied by comprehensive reforms.

The state's education system stands at a critical juncture, demanding substantial reforms and increased governmental focus. The path forward necessitates holistic measures, not just in infrastructure enhancement but also in curriculum revamping, teacher training, and aligning educational offerings with the needs of a modern workforce.

Education isn't merely about academic excellence; it's about fostering a generation equipped with critical thinking, innovation, and adaptability. It's about sculpting minds that can navigate the complexities of the future.

In conclusion, Manipur's education system requires urgent and comprehensive reforms. It demands an unwavering commitment to create an environment conducive to learning, innovation, and holistic growth. Let us heed this call to action and strive for a brighter educational future, one that empowers the youth, fuels progress, and transforms society for the better.
