Neiphiu Rio was on Tuesday sworn in as the chief minister of Nagaland for the fifth term at the Capital Cultural Hall, Kohima in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP national president J P Nadda and other dignitaries.
The oath of secrecy was administered by Governor La Ganesan. While TR Zeliang and Y Patton were sworn in as the deputy chief ministers of Nagaland; G Kaito Aye, Jacob Zhimomi, KG Kenye, P Paiwang Konyak, Metsubo Jamir, Temjen Imna Along, CL John, Salhoutuonuo Krus, P Bashangmongba Chang took oath as members of the council of ministers.
Neiphiu Rio, the longest serving chief minister of Nagaland will lead an all-party oppositionless government. In the recently conducted Nagaland Assembly Elections 2023, NDPP and its ally BJP won 37 seats. While the NDPP contested in 40 seats and won 25 seats, the BJP contested in 20 seats and won 12 seats in the 60-member Assembly.
