Fear has gripped Dimapur and Kohima as COVID-19 cases were reported from outside the quarantine centres. Social media platforms are flooded with comments asking the state government for a total lockdown.
The Kohima Village Council (KVC) has appealed to the Chief Minister of Nagaland for total lockdown in Kohima. “The gravity of our situation is even grimmer in light of the sporadic cases which have emerged in various colonies of Kohima,” the KVC said.
In its letter to the chief minister, the KVC said, “You are well aware that four positive cases of COVID-19 have already been reported at Daklane, Kezieke, Jotsoma and now, AG colony. It is likely that more positive cases of the disease will be detected if there is increased testing. This is indeed alarming”.
Many places in Kohima and commercial hub Dimapur have been sealed by the respective administrations as precautionary measures either after COVID-19 cases were reported from these places or based on the reports of contact tracing.
Meanwhile, three more police personnel have reportedly tested positive for COVID-19 in Dimapur from Truenat machines. The three police personnel are said to be posted at Dimapur West Police Station. However, there was no official confirmation yet till the filing of this report.
